Biking and walking

1 min read

Much of Brooklyn is flat and has protected bike lanes, and the Citi Bike network of docked and e-bikes covers the northern and central areas with new stations added regularly. The Prospect Park loop, the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway and the paths over the bridges are popular routes for both commuting and leisure.

Wear a helmet, use lights at night, lock your bike with a good U-lock and stay out of the car door zone. E-bikes and e-scooters are subject to speed limits and local rules, so read the signs on bridges and greenways.

Brooklyn is also one of the best walking boroughs in the country, with brownstone streets, waterfront promenades and parks. Many residents live car-free and do their weekly shopping within a fifteen-minute walk.
